Gas Food Lodging quad poster

A single mother (Brooke Adams) looks for love while raising her two teenage daughters, the rebellious Trudi (Ione Skye) and quirky Shade (Fairuza Balk), in a small border town in the desert of New Mexico.

A quintessential American independent film of the nineties, writer/director Allison Anders elicits detailed performances from an engaging cast and astutely observes the quiet challenges of small town working-class life. Beautifully written, directed and photographed, the film was nominated for the Golden Bear at the 42nd Berlin International Film Festival and the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 1992. Janet Maslin of The New York Times wrote, “subtly etched characters, effortlessly fine performances, and a moving story that is not easily forgotten.”

Lost Reels is proud to present a rare 35mm screening of this evocative, lyrical film followed by an in-person Q&A with writer/director Allison Anders.

Special thanks to Allison Anders for her support and participation.
